JUNIOR SOCCORABOUT US

Programmes at a Glance

Little Eds (ages 3–5)
Training-only, no matches. Think fun, fundamentals, and confidence.

U6–U17 & Eds Girls
We compete in league football, but player growth comes first. Every child is placed in a team, whatever their current level.

Our Philosophy

Skills + character > scoreline. We coach teamwork, sportsmanship, dedication and community so players thrive on and off the pitch.

Season Dates (2026): TBC

Training & Availability

  • Sessions run throughout the season (including school holidays).

  • No training on public holidays and no make-ups for those days.

  • Can’t make a match? Please tell your team manager early so we can plan squads/fixtures.

Teams & Selection

Under 6 to Under 17 teams are registered with the North Rand Football Association (NRFA) and participate in their
league. This caters for boys (turning 6 to 17 in 2026) and girls (turning 7 to 18 in 2026) in a mixed league.

The league season usually runs from April to September. Matches take place on Saturdays and/or Sundays for Under 6 – 17 and occasionally on weekday evenings. Match venues alternate between Home and Away. Players need to be available for both Home and Away matches. Players need to be committed throughout the season and attend ALL practices and matches. Unexcused absenteeism will affect team selection.

All players are placed into teams, irrespective of skill level. Team selections take place in February and March
through observation by the coaches during the training sessions and friendly matches. Late registrations may affect a
player’s placement in teams or divisions. Teams remain subject to adjustments throughout the season, based on
player development, performance, and availability. Coaches have sole responsibility for team selection, and no
involvement from parents or management will be permitted. Each age group may have up to three teams,
depending on the number of registrations:

  • Blue Teams:
These are the most competitive teams, focusing on both high performance and player development. While selection
does not guarantee match time, coaches work to balance individual development with the needs of the match.
Playing time, positions, and roles are assigned based on what is required to compete effectively.
  • Red Teams:
Red teams offer a blend of competition and development. While still competitive, they provide greater opportunities
for players to grow and improve. Coaches aim to give meaningful match time, though it may vary based on match
    circumstances.
  • Green Teams:
Green teams are primarily developmental, focusing on giving all players match exposure and playing time. These
teams provide opportunities for players who may still be building their skills or need more match experience.

Leagues

  • U6–U17: NRFA (NS League) — boys turning 6–17 in 2025; girls turning 7–18.

  • Eds Girls: RCLFA Ladies Division 1 (development league; open to all ages).

Matches are mostly April–September, weekends (occasional weeknights), home & away.
